Judith Abil is hoping to have another shot in the PVL after her stint with the Nxled Chamelons last year.
It’s not just the rookies that will have the spotlight at the 2024 PVL Draft Combine in Gameville Ballpark in Sheridan, Mandaluyong City, as free agents will also have an opportunity to show themselves once more.
Among those free agents is former Nxled Chamleons outside hitter Judith Abil, who is hoping to have another chance in the league.
Teams may directly sign free agents should they choose to add more players to their roster.
"Sobrang laking opportunity siya para sa aming mga free agent--na walang manager na humahawak--para maipakita kung anong meron kaming skills. Like wala kaming backup na tumutulong sa 'min, ‘yung skills lang talaga maio-offer namin," Abil explained to reporters.
"Kailangan ibigay talaga ang lahat, para at least last chance na makapaglaro ulit sa PVL," she emphasized.
Abil, however, admitted that earlier in the year, she found herself at a crossroads in her athletic career, finding herself without a team.
Ready to leave the sport she loves, a new opportunity emerged through the COMELEC Suffragettes in the UNTV Volleyball League.
"Nung nalaman ko na hindi ako mare-renew sa Nxled, ngayon dapat na year is magwo-work na talaga ako like change career, hindi na magvo-volleyball," Abil admitted.
"Pero nag-open ‘yung door ni Comelec, so work and then sa pagvo-volleyball kaya bakit volleyball pa rin. Tatalikuran ko sana this year si volleyball pero nag-open pa rin ‘yung door parang sige volleyball ulit,” she added.
With another chance at playing in the PVL, Abil's hopes are straightforward yet profound. But throughout these challenges, the 26-year-old spiker maintains a positive attitude.
"Sana po sa all teams ng PVL sana may makuha kahit isa," Abil expressed.
"Siguro may rason kung bakit hindi ako na-renew sa Nxled, may reason siguro lahat. Pray lang kung anong resulta nitong lahat," she added.
