The PLDT High Speed Hitters will be missing the services of Savi Davison in the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference.
PLDT High Speed Hitters superstar Savi Davison is set to undergo knee surgery next week, making her unlikely to participate in the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference which opened Tuesday, July 16.
Davison expressed her disappointment in being unable to suit up against the Creamline Cool Smashers to start the new conference, but emphasized that the decision was made with both her health and the team’s future in mind.
“I have surgery next week with Doc [Randy] Molo just to clean up some cartilage,” Davison revealed to One Sports. “The management and I decided that this was kind of the best time. It’s only a 4-5 week recovery, so hopefully, it’s a quick turnaround, but unfortunate for now.”
The 24-year-old Fil-Canadian is optimistic about her recovery and is hoping to return to the court by late September or early October.
“Depending on whether it’s the end of September or early October, but hopefully, you know, as soon as possible,” said Davison.
In the 2024 All-Filipino Conference, Davison finished with 207 points, finishing third in the Best Scorers list.
The injury bug continues to hound PLDT, as the team is still without Kianna Dy, who is still recovering from her own knee injury.
As the High Speed Hitters navigate the conference without their star player, Davison will continue to support her teammates throughout their campaign as they try to bring home the Reinforced Conference crown.
“It’s extremely difficult. I love to be on the court with them. I mean, I feel like I can’t give as much, so I’m just trying to learn how to cope with that. I know that this is for the best,” said Davison.
“For my best interest, the team’s best interest, so I’m just trying to trust my path and see how it goes,” she added.
Fans and teammates will be eagerly awaiting Davison’s swift recovery and return to the court.
