MJ Perez made her return to the PVL with a bang as she led the Cignal HD Spikers to a stunning straight-set victory over the Choco Mucho Flying Titans, 25-18, 25-21, 25-16, in the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City on Thursday, July 18.

Despite not having stars Dawn Macandili-Catindig and Vanie Gandler, the HD Spikers had the necessary firepower from Perez and former PVL MVP Ces Molina.

Similar to the first and second sets, Cignal distanced itself from Choco Mucho early on, building a seven-point lead at 14-7.

The HD Spikers continued to pile on the pressure as they extended their lead to double digits after back-to-back hits by Chin Basas.

With all the momentum on their side, Perez brought her squad to match point before Lut Malaluan committed a service error, giving Cignal the victory.

Perez finished with a game-high 22 points, while Molina and Basas added eight markers apiece. Setter Gel Cayuna contributed seven points in the win.

Free agent signing Judith Abil was also a revelation for the HD Spikers as the converted libero churned 15 excellent digs and eight excellent receptions.

Missing the services of superstar Sisi Rondina, the Flying Titans relied on import Zoi Faki, who had with 13 points in the loss.

No other Choco Mucho player finished in double-digit scoring with new signing Dindin Manabat-Santiago being the highest scorer with eight markers.
