Marina Tushova, remember the name folks.

The Russian import broke not one, but two scoring records in a historic PVL Reinforced Conference showing after single-handedly carrying the Capital1 Solar Spikers into a monumental 13-25, 25-21,18-25, 25-20, and 15-13 upset of the Choco Mucho Flying Titans.

Tushova scored 45 points, surpassing the previous record of 44 points set by Dominican Priscilla Rivera of Akari during the 2022 Reinforced Conference.

She also set a new attacking record with 43 kills, edging out Kia Bright’s 41 kills from her time with BanKo Perlas during a five-set loss to PayMaya in the 2018 Reinforced Conference.

All the jaw-dropping numbers aside, the 25-year-old downplays her historic performance and instead credited her teammtes for a much-needed upset.

“All game I felt like I’m not doing anything. That’s why I’m like let’s do more, let’s do more. So about this 45 points, it’s good for sure but it’s not like I’m already on top of my career or I’m better than someone else,” Tushova told reporters in the aftermath of their win.

“It’s just one game and today it was like this. Thank you, I really appreciate it. Thanks to my team, thanks to my family, to the people who are close to me because of them, I’m here now,” she added.

Tushova also starred in defense, tallying 12 excellent digs and 18 excellent receptions to help rookie libero Roma Mae Doromal, who produced 12 excellent digs as well and 16 excellent receptions.

“I’m proud of myself, I’m proud really. But for now, I don’t feel it at all.”

Despite the win, Capital1 head coach Roger Gorayeb emphasized the locals must step up to help their import in the offense.

“Marina [Tushova] has been carrying our offense for the past three games. Still kailangan pa rin yung local players na mag-contribute nang mag-contribute," coach Roger Gorayeb said.

The victory allowed the Solar Spikers to improve their standing to 2-2, moving up to third place in Pool B.
