As Marina Tushova entered the press room in the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City, the Russian import waited patiently as the Cignal HD Spikers ended their interviews.

Immediately after, Tushova was greeted by coach Shaq Delos Santos, Riri Meneses, Jacqueline Acuña, and MJ Perez. The Capital1 super import also hugged each HD Spiker.

There, the 25-year-old outside hitter then gave the ultimate push a competitor can provide to her opponents.

“Win this championship,” Tushova told Perez.

Even in victory, the HD Spikers were at a loss for words for Tushova’s record-breaking performance, who scored 50 points in a monumental effort against Cignal.

“Hindi ko alam ano ‘yung sasagot kasi kahit anong gawin namin nakapag-50 points pa rin siya eh. Thankful na lang ako na kahit naka-record siya, kami pa rin nag-wagi,” said Meneses.

In the end, it was Cignal that advanced to the semifinals of the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference, but the respect and admiration that both teams have for one another after the epic game are things that can’t be denied.
