The Farm Fresh Foxies will replace the PLDT High Speed Hitters in the 2024 PVL Invitational Conference, joining a revised five-team field after the Akari Chargers also withdrew due to injuries.
The Farm Fresh Foxies will replace the PLDT High Speed Hitters at the upcoming 2024 PVL Invitational Conference.
The Foxies accepted the invitation to join the six-team mid-season tournament, which includes international teams Est Cola from Thailand and defending champions Kurashiki Ablaze from Japan.
Farm Fresh, which finished eighth after its quarterfinal loss to Akari in the Reinforced Confernece, was chosen after other quarterfinalists, including the Chery Tiggo Crossovers, Petro Gazz Angels, and Capital1 Solar Spikers, declined due to the unavailability of their imports.
Japanese coach Shota Sato will continue to lead the team, but the Foxies are still determining their import after the departure of Columbian import Yenny Murillo.
Trisha Tubu, Louie Romero, Caitlin Viray, and Kate Santiago are expected to lead the charge once more for Farm Fresh, who remain without Jolina Dela Cruz and Lorene Toring due to injuries.
The tournament, however, will now just feature a five-team field after the Akari Chargers also opted to skip the conference due to injuries.
During their controversial semifinals victory against the PLDT High Speed Hitters, Akari saw its middle blockers Ced Domingo and Cams Victoria go down with injuries.
Following this development, the PVL decided that the Invitational Conference will be a five-team field instead of asking another local team to replace the spot left by the Chargers.
