After earning her first professional Best Libero award, Galeries Tower Highrisers' Alyssa Eroa reflects on her remarkable comeback journey in a heartfelt TikTok post.
Before claiming this prestigious honor, Alyssa made her mark with the Lady Stags of San Sebastian College-Recoletos in the NCAA from 2013 to 2018, where she was also named Best Libero of NCAA Season 90.
Her journey didn’t stop there; Alyssa also shone in beach volleyball alongside her partner Akari Chargers’ Grethcel Soltones from NCAA Season 90 to 92.
She further showcased her talent with Coach Roger Gorayeb and the BaliPure Purest Water Defenders during the 2021 Open Conference.
But after that conference, Alyssa faced an unexpected setback: she was left without a contract. She felt as though her volleyball journey had reached its end.
In her uncertainty, she explored a new path as a customer service representative at a BPO company, grappling with the reality that her dreams might be slipping away.
Fueled by a fierce determination to return to the game, she dedicated herself to staying in peak condition.
She took a bold step by joining the Marikina Lady Shoemasters in the 2023 Maharlika Pilipinas Volleyball Association.
“'Yung last na pagpasok po dun sa BaliPure parang after nung liga parang wala na po talagang pag-asa kasi wala rin po talagang kumo-contact. Wala po talaga. So parang ang nangyari na po nun, pinakondisyon ko po 'yung sarili ko sa buong dalawang, two to three years para makabalik. Ta's triny ko lang pong mag-try out sa ibang liga ta's parang pwede pa po pala,” Eroa said.
“Nagulat na lang din po ako, sa awa ng Diyos, may kumontact din po na PVL team. So 'di ko na sasayangin 'tong second chance na 'to,” she added.
