Another game, another strong outing for Gel Cayuna.

The 26-year-old setter churned out 11 points on seven attacks, three blocks, and one  ace to go along with 16 excellent sets in Cignal’s 25-18, 25-18, 20-25, 25-22 win over Choco Mucho at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Thursday, November 28.

“Malaking bagay ito sa'min, kasi tulad ng sabi niyo na isa sila [Choco Mucho] sa mga matibay na team. And 100% sure na makakatulong sa'min ito sa next games pa namin,” Cayuna said during the post-game press conference.

Cayuna has been excellent for the HD Spikers to start the PVL All-Filipino Conference, orchestrating the team’s offense for a 3-0 record.

But more than her setting ability, the four-time PVL Best Setter has been also a fixture in the scoring department for the Shaq Delos Santos-led Cignal.

“Tina-trabaho naman namin sa training talaga ‘yun. Si coach Shaq, kilala niya naman ako kung paano ako maglaro. Alam niya rin na kaya akong umatake. Kaya 'yun nga, sa training talaga ginagawa din talaga namin, kaya rin lumalabas din sa games,” said Cayuna.

So for Delos Santos, Cayuna’s scoring output comes as no surprise.

“Bina-balance ko lang din, kasi siyempre every game siya talaga ‘yung main setter. So parang timing lang siguro. Pero ‘yung iba kasi, nasa galaw na. When it comes to dun sa situation na ganito, alam niya na yung gagawin,” Delos Santos explained.

Along with Cayuna, five HD Spikers finished in double-digit scoring.

Middle blocker Jackie Acuña led the way with 14 points, five of which came as blocks. Ces Molina contributed 11 points, while Vanie Gandler and Riri Meneses added 10 each.

Cignal will head to Cebu on December 7 as they face the Nxled Chamelons.

Sisi Rondina did all she could for the Flying Titans with 24 points and six excellent receptions. Royse Tubino put up 15 points and 12 excellent digs.

Choco Mucho will look to bounce back on Tuesday, December 3 against the Creamline Cool Smashers at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.
