Jen Nierva's maturity was on full display as she steered the Chery Tiggo Crossovers past the PLDT High Speed Hitters.
Jen Nierva and the Chery Tiggo Crossovers denied the PLDT High Speed of a 4-0 start in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
Nierva was excellent for the Crossovers, putting up 17 excellent digs and 16 excellent receptions en route to a four-set win, 25-12, 25-23, 20-25, 25-22, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao on Tuesday, December 3.
Coming off her Alas Pilipinas stint, the 25-year-old libero made sure to use her experience from international tournaments to guide the depleted Crossovers.
“Siguro nakita ko ‘yung leadership ng mga teammates ko and kung gaano sila kasipag, gaano sila ka-dedicated, and kung gaano sila ka-competitive inside the court,” Nierva said during the post-game press conference.
“I'm just very happy na ngayon mabibigyan kami ng panalo and credits ‘yun sa lahat ng mga trabaho ng coaches, ng teammates ko,” she added.
Cess Robles put up a team-high 17 points, leading the four double-digit scorers for Chery Tiggo.

Ara Galang contributed 13 markers, while Shaya Adorador and Pauline Gaston had 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Riding on a two-game winning streak, the Crossovers look to extend their run against the slumping Akari Chargers on December 10 at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
“Siguro ‘yung learning ko from this game is to study talaga ‘yung kalaban. And it's really about preparation. Kasi once you step inside the court, ‘yun na ‘yun eh,” Nierva explained.
“Kailangan ibibigay mo 'yung best mo talaga inside the training and outside and also, stay in discipline. And always focus kung ano 'yung goal namin. Kasi it's a long journey. Mahaba-haba pa,” she emphasized.
Savi Davison led the High Speed Hitters with 27 points. Erika Santos added 13 points in the loss.
PLDT will look to get back on track against the Petro Gazz Angels on December 10 as well.
