Galeries Tower finally jumpstarted its 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino campaign after scoring its first win with a sweep of Capital1, 26-24, 25-14, 25-23, at the Minglanilla Sports Complex in Cebu on Saturday, Dec. 7.

With the win, the Highrisers improved to 1-4 in the standings, tied with the Solar Spikers at the 10th spot.

Riding on the momentum from a dominant second-set victory, Galeries Tower pushed ahead to an early 9-6 lead in the third after a kill block by middle blocker Andrea Marzan on Capital1’s Patty Orendain.

The Highrisers extended their lead to as many as six points after another kill block courtesy of Jewel Encarnacion on Leila Cruz, 18-12.

But the Solar Spikers would not go down that easily, managing to cut the lead to just two points on a 5-0 run.

Encarnacion, however, restored order for Galeries Tower, building the lead back up to five points.

Despite Capital1’s efforts to mount a comeback, Ysa Jimenez and France Ronquillo delivered the team’s final two points to secure the victory for the Highrisers.

Julia Coronel orchestrated the Highrisers’ first victory with 10 excellent sets, to go along with nine points on two attacks, two blocks, and five aces.

Galeries Tower will look to end the year on a solid note as the team will face the Chery Tiggo Crossovers on Dec. 14 at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.

On the other hand, Capital1 will have a long break ahead of them as the Solar Spikers' next match will be on Jan. 21 against the Creamline Cool Smashers.
