Kianna Dy was finally let loose as the PLDT High Speed Hitters returned to the win column, fending off the Cignal HD Spikers in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
The PLDT High Speed Hitters wasted no time in regaining their winning ways after powering past the Cignal HD Spikers in four sets, 25-20, 25-21, 20-25, 25-22, in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Tuesday, Jan. 28.
Despite faltering in the third set, the High Speed Hitters quickly regained their composure and went on a 9-0 run in the fourth led by Savi Davison, breaking the game open at 16-6.
Kianna Dy then finally suited up for the first time for PLDT, entering the match late in the fourth frame.
The HD Spikers tried to mount a comeback behind the efforts of Vanie Gandler and Jacqueline Acuña, cutting the lead to just a single point at 21-22 after a service ace by Ishie Lalongisip.
But Majoy Baron’s timely taps gave the High Speed Hitters some breathing room, before Savi Davison sealed the win after scoring the team’s final two points.
Davison had another strong outing with 23 points, built on 21 attacks and two blocks.
With the win, PLDT improved to 5-3 for 4th in the standings. Cignal, on the other hand, was dealt its second loss for a 5-2 win-loss record.
The High Speed Hitters will be back next Tuesday, Feb. 4 against the Farm Fresh Foxies, still at the PhilSports Arena.
