Tears flowed from Kianna Dy as she savored her first game back for the PLDT High Speed Hitters, 559 days since her knee injury.
Leading 16-7 in the fourth set, Kianna Dy removed her team jacket and headed to the scorer’s table as she made her return to the PVL taraflex and debut for the PLDT High Speed Hitters.
Dy had to wait 559 days after suffering a knee injury in the 2023 PVL Invitational Conference.
The 29-year-old opposite hitter did not score in the High Speed Hitters’ four-set win over the Cignal HD Spikers, 25-20, 25-21, 20-25, 25-22, but her presence was felt by everyone at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
While she has yet to fully return to her ‘Point City’ form, Dy is just happy to be back on the court after her injury and setbacks.
“Of course, super excited. I mean, I haven't played the game for a year now,” Dy said during the post-game press conference.
“Since I'm new sa team, I'm super excited to play 'cause I was with my team before in the past years. Just to play with new faces is just so refreshing, and yeah, I was just really happy and excited to be part of the team inside,” she added.
In the middle of the interview, Dy couldn’t help but get emotional as she looked back on her journey back from injury.
“Biggest change, I guess as a player, I've been more patient with myself because they journey of me being here right now wasn't really easy. It's been a hard year,” Dy said as tears flowed through her eyes.
“I'm still trying to get to my 100% and I'm slowly getting there. It hasn't been easy, but thankfully with my teammates and my coaches, they make it easier for me kahit hirap na hirap na ako,” she added.

Having signed with PLDT in January 2024, the talented wing spiker officially played her first match in her new team with her DLSU teammates Majoy Baron, Kim Fajardo, and Mika Reyes.
“Para siyang naging mini-reunion plus Savi and Kath. Super happy in choosing PLDT also, with the La Salle people. It's been an easy transition for us in PLDT, so, really happy for that,” said Dy.
Dy and the High Speed Hitters will be back next Tuesday, February 4 against the Farm Fresh Foxies.
