The ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles snatched a huge five-set victory over the Cignal HD Spikers, moving closer to securing the last quarterfinal berth in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
The ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles move one step closer to making the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino quarterfinals after shutting out the Cignal HD Spikers in five sets, 19-25, 25-23, 25-20, 23-25, 15-12, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Tuesday, March 11.
Despite allowing the HD Spikers to force a fifth set, the Thunderbelles made sure to regain their composure just in time.
Tied at 8-all, Chinnie Arroyo gave ZUS Coffee a two-point lead after back-to-back attacks. Jovelyn Gonzaga and Chai Troncoso would continue to hold the Thunderbelles’ lead at 13-11.
Cignal managed to cut the lead to one after a ZUS Coffee error, but Troncoso pushed her squad to match point before the former HD Spiker herself sealed the victory with a crosscourt kill.
Arroyo was hailed the Player of the Game after leading the Thunderbelles with 20 points on 18 attacks and two service aces.
ZUS Coffee will look to finalize their quarterfinal berth against the Capital1 Solar Spikers on Thursday, March 13.
