The Petro Gazz Angels force a winner-take-all Game 3 after powering past the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles in Game 2 of their 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference quarterfinal matchup.
The Petro Gazz Angels vented their frustrations against the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles with a dominant straight-set win, 25-19, 25-13, 28-26, in Game 2 of the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference quarterfinals at the Ynares Center Antipolo on Saturday, March 22.
With the Angels’ win, a winner-take-all Game 3 will ensue on Tuesday, March 25 at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
Dominant all game long, Petro Gazz clung on to a slim lead against ZUS Coffee for most of the third set behind the duo of Brooke Van Sickle and MJ Phillips.
The Thunderbelles managed to cut the lead to a single point at 18-19. But the Angels would go on a 3-0 run, two of which came from Myla Pablo, to give themselves some much-needed cushion.
However, ZUS Coffee would not go away that easily, finding themselves tied at 24-all and even taking the lead at 25-24 after several errors by Petro Gazz.
Tied at 26-all, Van Sickle pushed the Angels ahead, before an overreaching was called on the Thunderbelles in the following play which ultimately sealed the victory.
Phillips was hailed the Player of the Game as she finished with 11 points on nine attacks and two blocks.
