The Petro Gazz Angels officially enter the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference semifinals after knocking out the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles in Game 3 of the quarterfinals, 25-21, 25-19, 25-23, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Tuesday, March 25.
Fresh off their straight-sets win on Saturday, the No. 2 seeded Angels proved to be too much for the No. 7 seeded Thunderbelles in the winner-take-all match.
Petro Gazz will now head to the round-robin semifinals where they will face the Creamline Cool Smashers, Choco Mucho Flying Titans, and Akari Chargers.
Dominant throughout, the Angels gave themselves a five-point lead in the third set at 12-7 behind MJ Phillips and Brooke Van Sickle.
However, the Thunderbelles came back to take the lead at 14-13, going on a 7-1 run capped off by three straight points by Chinnie Arroyo.
The two teams continued to exchange attacks until the 23-all mark where Chinnie Arroyo’s attack just sailed wide before Myla Pablo came in clutch with a huge solo block on Myla Pablo.
Chie Saet orchestrated Petro Gazz’s victory with 20 excellent sets and five points.
First up for Petro Gazz will be the defending champions Creamline at the Ynares Center Antipolo on Saturday, March 29.
