The Akari Chargers secure a podium finish in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference after powering past the Choco Mucho Flying Titans in Game 3 of their bronze medal series.
The Akari Chargers will take home the bronze medal after sweeping the Choco Mucho Flying Titans, 25-15, 26-24, 26-24, in Game 3 of the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference third-place series at the PhilSports Arena on Saturday, April 12.
This marks back-to-back podium finishes for the Chargers, following their silver medal in the 2024 Reinforced Conference.
Coming off an extended set victory in the second frame, Akari stormed to an early 8-3 lead in the third behind the efforts of Ivy Lacsina and Eli Soyud.
Sisi Rondina and Royse Tubino, however, would not let Choco Mucho go down without a fight as the Flying Titans cut their deficit to just two points at 13-15.
The Flying Titans eventually tied the game at 22-all, but Soyud and Lacsina notched back-to-back hits to lead the Chargers to match point.
Rondina would get one back for Choco Mucho, which was followed by an attack error by Lacsina, forcing another extended set.
Tied at 24-all, Soyud brought Akari to match point once more with her down-the-line attack, before Lacsina’s power hit proved to be too much for Thang Ponce to dig, sealing the bronze medal victory.
Soyud led the way for the Chargers with 18 points on 15 attacks and three blocks.
