The HD Spikers are looking to reach even greater heights this 2023.
After an impressive PVL campaign last year, the Cignal HD Spikers are looking to start their 2023 season on a good note.
Head coach Shaq Delos Santos thinks their new acquisitions in Toni Rose Basas and Gyzelle Sy, who both played for him in FEU, will come right in and fill the team's gaps.
“Siguro 'yung mga naging lapses lang namin, 'yung mga kulang ng team na I’m sure mai-contribute nila pagdating sa game namin, sa mga set plays, sa attacks. This coming conference I’m sure makakapag-perform sila ng maayos,” said Delos Santos.
Cignal is coming off 3rd place finishes in the Open and Invitational Conference, and a runner-up finish in the Reinforced Conference, where they bowed down to Petro Gazz in the finale.
The HD Spikers' goal this time around is to finally bring home the championship.
“Better na mas mag-improve kami. Kung anuman 'yung na-reach namin nung 2022, better na mas maging okay kami and target namin, hopefully, makuha 'yung championship,” said Delos Santos.
But Delos Santos acknowledges they need to be all the more consistent, especially with more teams improving their rosters this past offseason.
“Personally, alam ko na maghahanda talaga lahat ng teams, especially mga coaches, ipre-prepare nila 'yung team nila and kailangan talaga mas mag-ready, maghanda, mag-prepare talaga sa mga naging kulang namin,” said Delos Santos.
“Mas kailangan namin maging consistent ngayon, mas maging aggressive pa, and maging resilient sa lahat ng gagawin namin.”
