Regine Diego still hoping to coach F2 alongside Ramil De Jesus

Regine Diego still hoping to coach F2 alongside Ramil De Jesus

A new era has begun for the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers with new head coach Regine Diego at the helm.

Diego, who was a former libero for the DLSU Lady Spikers, is not new to F2’s system given that it was built under fabled Green Archer tactician Ramil de Jesus.

Moving from playing to coaching is no easy feat, and the former under-17 and under-19 Philippine girls' national volleyball team member has one thing in mind that might help. Actually, it's not just a good volleyball move, but also an aspiration that may just bring a personal fulfilment.

“I wish I could coach side-by-side with Coach Ramil, that’s the dream. Hopefully, eventually, malapit na, I can feel it. It feels weird to be the coach at first, to be the coach of some of my teammates. I think I’m at a good place because it’s so much easier to talk to them,” said Diego.

During her time in DLSU with de Jesus, Diego helped the team win four UAAP volleyball championships from 2006-2009.

Diego also made history by being the first female coach in the PVL — something she says will be an advantage for her and her team as they try to bounce back from a disappointing 2022 PVL season.

“It’s good na may nagle-lead na naiintindihan yung language ko, so I think doon kami lamang – 'yung relationship na babae sa babae,” said Diego. “Hopefully, ma-translate din siya sa laro, hindi lang sa relationships with each other na we’re also friends, we’re also ex-teammates, now we’re a team now.”
