UP coach Goldwin Monteverde on new recruit Sean Alter: ‘Very competitive player’
UP MBT/nowhere to go but UP

While fellow recruits Luis Pablo and Seven Gagate will join their new teammates at practice on Tuesday, Sean Alter will have to take a rain check on his first meeting with the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons.

Following Fil-Nation Select’s runner up finish in the 2023 Smart-NBTC Division 1 finals, Alter had to fly to the United States and is expected to be back in more or less two months.

“He’s expected to join us siguro by May,” said UP coach Goldwin Monteverde during a press conference on Tuesday.

Monteverde went on to describe the 6-foot-8 recruit as a “very competitive player.”

“He’s really gonna go for the ball. Something na hindi—hindi naman tayo pwede sa isang team na panay scorer lang,” he said.

And with a full 5 years to play in college, sky is definitely the limit for Alter.

“He has five years to play. Malaki pa i-improve niya,” said the champion coach.

UP program director Bo Perasol said that while Alter has yet to join the Fighting Maroons, they already have a role in mind for him.

Ang nakikita kong magiging role ni Sean dyan would be to really relieve Malick Diouf as of now. 'Yan nakikita kong foremost role niya sa team,” Perasol said.
