The win also spoiled the debut of FEU coach Denok Miranda.
Evan Nelle didn’t hide his disappointment as he pointed out his mishaps in the aftermath of the La Salle Green Archers' 87-76 win over the FEU Tamaraws in their UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball opener on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters at the Mall of Asia Arena, Nelle admitted he needs to work more on his decision-making, especially in the end-game, where the Tamaraws threatened to turn things around.
“I wasn’t executing the plays. I was doing whatever I wanted to do and I wasn’t following the system,” he said.
It didn’t seem like that, at least to the naked eye, though. Nelle still came up with a near triple-double of 15 points, eight rebounds, and 12 assists as the Green Archers gave new coach Topex Robinson his first victory in the UAAP.
“It’s really a surreal feeling finally coaching in the UAAP especially with DLSU,” said Robinson after the win that also spoiled FEU coach Denok Miranda’s debut.

Still, Nelle, who's in his final year, knows there’s a lot of work cut out for him and the rest of the team. Good thing they have plenty of time to do just that.
“I just have to work on that, to control my team, and trust coach and we’ll be alright. It’s only the first game,” said Nelle.
