The first week of UAAP Season 86 has lived up to expectations—thrilling matches and superstar performances.

With the first two game days done, there are already plenty of storylines that can be built for the season

With that in mind, let’s take a look at some unnecessary overreactions from the first week of Season 86.

1. The UST Growling Tigers will go winless this season.

Sorry to disappoint UST fans but the Growling Tigers look like their headed for another difficult season.

They’ve looked better—that’s for sure. But when you lost to the two teams, who shall we say are “beatable,” then that shouldn’t bode well for the team.

Maybe UST can shock the world and snatch a few upsets over the title favorites, but for now, it looks it’s going to be a long season for the España squad.

2. The UP Fighting Maroons will go undefeated this Season 86

In their two games so far, the Fighting Maroons have seemingly shown no signs of weakness.

UP is coming into Season 86 as the favorites to bring home the crown—and they might just do so in convincing fashion.

Of course, they have yet to go up against the Final Four contenders, but with the talent and depth they have, who says they can’t beat them as well?

3. The Adamson Soaring Falcons are doomed without Jerom Lastimosa

The Soaring Falcons have been living and dying through Jerom Lastimosa.

Without him, the team is lacking the necessary star power to power them through against the tougher teams in the tournament.

There is plenty of pride on the Adamson roster. Joem Sabandal, Vince Magbuhos, and Cedrick Manzano are all capable of putting up solid numbers for the team.

For now, they hope that Jerom can return to the court sooner rather than later.

4. Rey Remogat will be the leading scorer in the league

Remogat can flat-out score—simple as that.

While he did have an off night versus the Fighting Maroons, it’s more and more looking like he will be the Red Warrior’s go-to guy.

With a clear green light from coach Jack Santiago, who’s to say that Remogat can’t score about 18 to 20 points a night?

5. Kean Baclaan will win the MVP award

Malik Diouf bagging his second MVP award seems like the likely choice, but let’s go all out with the overreactions.

Baclaan has been outstanding for the NU Bulldogs in their 2-0 start so far.

If Baclaan can continue to flirt with triple-doubles, then he will definitely be in contention for the MVP award.

There's still plenty of UAAP action in the coming months—and we can’t wait to see how all of that unfolds.
