The ladies of UAAP Season 86 are still smoking hot in the second round of the women’s basketball tournament. Once again, the femme fatales of UAAP hoops balled out, powered by their lethal skills and school spirit, of course. Vol. 8 featured jaw-dropping performances, and rightfully so, the ninth edition is filled with outings that are more dynamite than BTS.

5 Victoria Adeshina – Adamson Lady Falcons

The Lady Falcons tried their best to protect home floor on Saturday as they battled the much improved UP Fighting Maroons. Unfortunately, the Diliman-based squad’s all-around effort dealt Adamson a 57-45 loss. Adeshina, though, tried her best to tow the Lady Falcons to what would’ve been their third victory in nine games as she finished with 24 points, 11 rebounds, and two steals.

4 Josee Kaputu – FEU Tamaraws

Also on Saturday at the Adamson Gym, the Tamaraws suffered a 76-55 defeat at the hands of the NU Lady Bulldogs. Although the hoopers from Morayta fell to a 3-6 record, the team had a real bright spot in Kaputu as she posted 19 points and a whopping 21 boards. There are five games left in the eliminations, and there’s a strong chance that Jumping Josee will deliver a 20-point, 20-rebound stat line somewhere along the way.

3 Camille Clarin – NU Lady Bulldogs

It’s one thing to stuff the stat sheet if you’re playing on a bad team. And it’s an entirely different story to produce good numbers on a great team. Of course, the latter will always be in higher regard. Clarin did just that in NU’s massive win over the Tamarraws as she recorded 12 points, three rebounds, five assists, and four steals in a brilliant do-it-all effort. The Gilas Pilpinas mainstay did it all to help lead NU to a tournament-best 8-1 slate.

2 Tacky Tacatac - UST Growling Tigresses

On Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, UST tied UP for second place at 7-2 in the standings after demolishing the La Salle Lady Archers, 93-67. And leading the way for the Tigresses was Tacatac. Taking over UST ace Kent Pastrana for the time being, Tacky had a flawless performance, finishing with 17 markers and five dimes with zero turnovers.

1 Kacey dela Rosa – Ateneo Blue Eagles

The undisputed top performer in the past two game days of the women’s tournament is none other than Ateneo’s highly talented big. KDR played a lot like RDO on Sunday as she lit up the Big Dome and the UE Lady Warriors. In the Blue Eagles’ 81-66 triumph, dela Rosa exploded for 22 points, on 89% shooting, on top of 11 rebounds, and five blocks. The ladies in blue now have a 6-3 win-loss card, good for fourth place as of this writing.
