Sore and all, the La Salle Green Archers kept grinding and did just enough to clip the Adamson Falcons, 69-57 in the UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball tournament on Wednesday.
Coach Topex Robinson said the Green Archers went straight to work after their hard-fought win against the UP Fighting Maroons to prepare for the Falcons.
“It was really hard coming off that game against UP. They never took a break,” Robinson said after the match at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“They just kept on grinding. Guys are hurt but they just said so be it.”
It was worth it.
La Salle picked up their sixth straight victory and rose to an 8-3 record, which punched the Green Archers a return trip to the Final Four. Incidentally, Adamson quashed the team’s semifinals hopes last season.
Robinson couldn’t help but be happy as La Salle joined the UP Fighting Maroons and the NU Bulldogs in the postseason.
“We’re just so grateful and blessed to be in this situation right now that we’re in,” he said.
The Green Archers are in the hunt for a twice-to-beat incentive with still three games remaining in their schedule. They will next face the UE Red Warriors on Sunday at the same venue. On the other hand, the Soaring Falcons will look to keep their own Final Four hopes alive also on Sunday when they take on the Ateneo Blue Eagles, themselves in the hunt for that last playoff ticket.
