The Baby Falcons are champions anew after a 31-year wait.
The crown is officially back in San Marcelino!
After a 31-year wait, the Adamson Baby Falcons are back on the mountaintop after defeating the NU-Nazareth School in Game 3 of the UAAP Season 86 high school boys’ basketball Finals at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan Sunday.
A hot start in the first quarter propelled the Baby Falcons to an early lead against NU, which they managed to sustain until the end of the match.
Facing a similar situation back in Game 2, Adamson made sure to thwart any NU comeback coming their way.
The Baby Falcons managed to make things difficult for Season 86 MVP Collins Akowe, who finished with 18 points but shot 6-for-17 from the field.
JC Bonzalida and Tebol Garcia led the way for Adamson with 15 points apiece in the winner-take-all match.
Mark Esperanza, meanwhile, was named Finals MVP after averaging 9.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.0 steals for the Baby Falcons. He finished with 13 points in Game 3.
Adamson won its last high school championship in UAAP Season 56. In 1993, the Baby Falcons completed a six-peat, which still stands as the UAAP record.
