La Salle's title defense is off to a strong start as the Lady Spikers dominated Adamson, 25-16, 25-16, 25-18, in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Saturday.

The Lady Spikers showed right from the get-go why they are the favorites to retain the crown as they roared to a 13-3 start in the first set, which set the tone for the rout.

DLSU thus handed its decorated tactician Ramil de Jesus his 300th win with the team.

Angel Canino led the Lady Spikers with 14 points on 11 attacks and three denials. She also logged four digs and four excellent receptions.

Shevana Laput also put up three blocks in her 11-point output while Thea Gagate chipped in eight markers for DLSU.

Skipper Lucille Almonte and Ishie Lalongisip each punched in six points to lead eight others who only scored single-digit outputs for the Lady Falcons.

In the second set, AdU put up a fight early on to keep the game close but a 5-0 DLSU run put the reigning titlist ahead anew at 14-7 and allowed it to pull away for good.
