Casiey Dongallo's UAAP career is off to a fiery start as she stars for the UE Lady Red Warriors.
Super rookie Casiey Dongallo set a new UAAP rookie record following her 30-point outing in the UE Lady Red Warriors' thrilling five-set loss to the FEU Lady Tamaraws on Sunday, February 25.
Dongallo, who had already set the highest scoring debut by a rookie in UAAP history, surpassed Angel Canino’s previous record of 28 points, which she set last year against the Adamson Lady Falcons.
The California Precision Sports product also had 12 digs and six excellent receptions in the loss, which she believes will serve as a big lesson for the team.
"This game will be a lesson for us na marami pa kaming kailangan i-overcome as a team," Dongallo said during the post-game press conference.
When asked about her performance, Dongallo made sure to point out her high school teammate and setter Kizzie Madriaga for continuing to trust her throughout the match.
"Hindi ko 'yun magagawa without her kasi kung wala 'yung tiwala ni Kizzie sakin na kaya kong pumuntos ng ganun, hindi ako makakakuha ng ganun," said Dongallo.
"I'm just thankful na 'yung tiwala ni Kizzie na bigyan ako ng sets na ganung kadami is nandun kasi I cannot do that without her and also without my other teammates," she added.
Dongallo and the rest of the Lady Warriors will look to end their slump next Saturday as they go up against the Adamson at the Mall of Asia Arena at 2:00 p.m.
