Iconic PBA import Sean Chambers has been appointed as the new head coach of Far Eastern University, the school announced on Monday, March 18.

Following a successful career in the PBA, Chambers will now embark on his first head coaching role in the Philippines. Chambers won six titles with Alaska, including two in the Aces' 1996 Grand Slam run. He is tied with Ginebra superstar Justin Brownlee for most titles in the PBA by an import.

The PBA legend expressed his excitement to return to the Philippines, a place he considers his second home, bringing with him extensive experience dedicated to education, coaching, and mentoring youth.

"In my years, I've closely observed the evolution and spirit of Philippine Collegiate Basketball, witnessing the remarkable growth and development of young players,” Chambers said in a statement. “I firmly believe there is ample opportunity for me to contribute to their journey towards reaching their fullest potential on and off the court.

Chambers will be succeeding Denok Miranda, who led the team during the UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball tournament.

Miranda will now lead the FEU basketball program, overseeing the development of all FEU basketball teams from Junior High up to the Collegiate level.

Last season, the Tamaraws ended with a 3-11 record, missing out on a Final Four spot for the second year in a row.

With Chambers at the helm, FEU aims for a fresh start and hopes to regain its position as one of the top teams in the league. FEU is the winningest men's basketball program in the UAAP with 20 titles, but the Tamaraws haven't won since Season 78.

“I am profoundly grateful and humbled by the opportunity to return to the Philippines as the head coach of the FEU Tamaraws. It is an honor to collaborate with FEU management and coaching staff in our collective mission to reignite the winning culture at FEU,” said Chambers.
