Far Eastern U regained a share of the top spot even as Adamson forced a three-way tie at fourth as the Tamaraws and the Falcons downed their respective foes in contrasting fashion in the UAAP Season 86 men's volleyball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao on Saturday, March 23.

The Tamaraws flexed their might at the net in the fifth to outlast La Salle, 16-25, 25-21, 34-32, 20-25, 15-8, to pick up their third straight win and rejoin National University at the summit with their identical 7-1 tallies.

Meanwhile, the Falcons blanked University of the East, 25-17, 29-27, 25-22, to even their card to 4-4 and move to a share of fourth with Ateneo and University of Santo Tomas.

FEU raced to a 7-1 lead in the decider anchored on two denials by Dryx Saavedra and Martin Bugaoan to set the tone for the dominant finish.

JayJay Javelona led the Tamaraws with 21 points, including a block in FEU's 4-1 closing tear.

Saavedra and Bugaoan contributed 20 markers apiece while Andrei Delicana added 13.

The Green Spikers drew 20 points from JM Ronquillo and 19 each from Vince Maglinao and Noel Kampton but still fell to back-to-back losses to stay at third with their 5-3 card.

In the first match, AdU overhauled a 13-18 deficit to take a tightly contested second set then outfought the Red Warriors in another close battle in the third to get back on track following a five-set loss to UST the last time out.

The Falcons leaned on Francis Casas (21 points) and Dan Gutierrez (10) to bail them out of trouble in the second and third frames.

Joshua Pozas and Shan Camaymayan netted 11 points apiece for UE which failed to follow up on its previous win over University of the Philippines.

The Red Warriors thus remained at seventh with their 1-7 slate.
