Sean Chambers showed up and supported the FEU Lady Tamaraws in their UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball match against Ateneo on Thursday, April 4.
Tamarraws Head Coach Sean Chambers wants to turn things around for the FEU basketball program the way he did with Alaska in the early 1990s.
Of course, Chambers, who endeared himself to PBA fans after steering Alaska to a Grand Slam as its resident import, knows it’s not going to be a breeze for a team that has missed the Final Four the last couple of seasons.
“My mindset is kinda like when I came over to Alaska, we’re last place and we quickly became in [the] first place,” he told reporters during the women’s volleyball match between FEU Lady Tamarraws and Ateneo Lady Eagles on Thursday, April 4 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
“I don’t want this to be a long process. My expectation is to be successful.”
To do that, he needs to infuse some values he acquired when he played for Tim Cone and Alaska. Chambers won six titles with Alaska, including two in the Aces' 1996 Grand Slam run.
“First and foremost, we're gonna do everything with integrity. We’re gonna be accountable for one another, not only to their teammates but also to the university,” he said.
“We’re gonna work hard. We’re gonna prepare like crazy. As we said with Alaska, the will to win is important but the will to prepare is vital.”

Speaking of Cone, is Chambers going to run the triangle? Sort of, said the beloved basketball legend.
“We run the triangle but its a little bit with a Sean Chambers flair. It won’t look like Tim Cone’s but its gonna be similar in some aspects,” he said.
