Adamson University kept its Final Four hopes alive after escaping the University of the Philippines in five sets, 25-17, 23-25, 20-25, 25-23, 15-13, in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament at the Ninoy Aquino Memorial Stadium in Malate on Saturday, April 13.

Despite going down 2-1 in sets, the Lady Falcons managed to crawl to victory and grab their third win in the season.

Tied at 11-all in the fifth set, Adamson turned to its middle blockers Mayang Nuique and Jen Villegas to deliver back-to-back points.

UP would tie the game at 13-all after Irah Jaboneta's attack and Nina Ytang's timely block.

The Fighting Maroons, however, would give the lead back to the Lady Falcons after team captain Abi Goc's service error.

Adamson would then capitalize on this as Villegas sealed the victory after a kill block on Jaboneta's spike.

Karen Verdeflor's defense was on point for Adamson with 25 excellent digs. Barbie Jamili, meanwhile, led the Lady Falcons on offense with 16 points built on 15 attacks and one block while Nuique added 15 markers.

The win gives Adamson a 3-8 record, still behind Far Eastern University (6-4) and Ateneo de Manila University (3-8) for the fourth spot.

UP, on the other hand, sits at the bottom of the standings with a 1-11 record.

Ytang led the Fighting Maroons with 17 points while Joan Monares and Jewel Encarnacion added 16 points apiece.
