Coach Sherwin Meneses will go for double championships in the next few months as he steers both the Creamline Cool Smashers and NU Lady Bulldogs in the PVL and UAAP, respectively.
Sherwin Meneses will have a busy schedule ahead of him in the coming months.
As he continues to steer the unbeaten Creamline Cool Smashers in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference, Meneses will also have the task of guiding the NU Lady Bulldogs in the upcoming UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball tournament.
It’s also no secret that Creamline and NU are the favorites in their respective leagues. That’s why some fans can’t help but compare the two, especially with Meneses being the coach for both squads.
But when asked about the two champion teams, Meneses offered a different perspective on how he handles his two squads during training.
“Magkaiba naman sila pero syempre, ‘yung isang sistema pagka-inulit ulit, nakakabisado,” Meneses told reporters. “‘Yung NU kasi syempre mas bata eh, 'yung Creamline medyo senior na talaga, madali lang hawakan talaga.
“Pero about sa system, pinipilit. Siyempre ganun naman talaga. Kung ano ‘yung nagwo-work, ayun naman lagi ‘yung gagawin. So, hopefully makuha namin 'yung pareho. Pero ['yung] NU meron sila 'yung sariling galing, dinadagdagan lang namin,” he added.

A proven champion tactician, Meneses knows that all eyes will be on how his system further improves the Lady Bulldogs, led once more by superstars Bella Belen and Alyssa Solomon as they aim for back-to-back UAAP crowns.
"Maganda ‘yung transition ng NU players sa akin so hopefully, sa first game namin maipakita na mas maganda 'yung laro ng NU. Mapakita nila na nag-improve sila kahit papaano kasi siyempre nasa NU naman ako para tumulong lang talaga na ma-improve 'yung team, so siyempre, champion team na 'yan,” said Meneses.

NU will open their Season 87 campaign against rivals DLSU on Sunday, February 16 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
And while another championship is certainly the goal for the Jhocson-based squad, Meneses, like with Creamline, is focused on improving every single day as individuals and as a team.
“Actually, lagi kong sinasabi sa kanila na mag-improve everyday, every training, so pag nagi-improve napapaganda ‘yung laro, nakakakuha ng panalo, nakakakuha ng championship. ‘Wag lang silang mag-stop na matuto,” Meneses emphasized.
“So blessing kung manalo, mag-champion pero siyempre school by school to, lahat gusto talunin 'yung NU,” he added.
