Living the Dream: Filipina gymnast Emma Malabuyo feels surreal about her Olympic journey
What a ride!

Every early morning, every practice, and every sacrifice has led to this moment on the world stage. Even though it’s a rollercoaster of emotions, seeing her compete at the Olympics is a testament to her unbreakable spirit and fierce dedication.

Twenty-one-year-old Emma Malabuyo’s Olympic journey was filled with ups and downs, with multiple times of disappointment in Olympic qualifications.

Malabuyo missed out on securing a coveted spot in Paris 2024 after the final results of the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Series in Doha, Qatar.

However, Malabuyo clinched a podium finish at the Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships, earning the bronze medal. This bronze was particularly significant as it secured her a spot in the Paris Olympics, making it the most valuable medal of her gymnastics career.

“I started getting teary-eyed, and I thought, Oh my gosh, I'm actually here in the Olympics,” told Emma with One Sports.

Philippine Olympic gymnast Emma Malabuyo dazzled with grace and poise during her Subdivision 3 routines in the women’s artistic gymnastics event at the Paris 2024 Olympics, garnering her a score of 13.266 in the women’s artistic gymnastics vault, 12.233 in the balance beam, 12.500 in the uneven bars, and 13.100 in the floor exercise.

She may have exited the competition early, but it doesn’t take away from her amazing journey and the inspiration she’s given to Filipinos.
