It wasn’t the dream Olympic debut Jarod Hatch had expected.

Hatch failed to book a place in the semifinals of the men’s 100-meter butterfly event after finishing in joint-36th in the qualification rounds at the Paris La Defense Arena.

He finished dead last in heat 2 with a time of 54.66 seconds among eight swimmers as Jiajun Sun of China came up first with 51.85 in the said heat.

Kristof Milac was the fastest swimmer after clocking 50.10 seconds followed by Josh Linedo of Canada (50.55) and Noe Ponti of Switzerland and Maxime Grousset of France (50.65).

Only the top 16 out of 40 swimmers in the whole preliminary round to advance to the semifinals.
