“Napatawad ko na kayo a long time ago” | Olympics champion Carlos Yulo seeks reconciliation amidst family controversies
In a long Tiktok video, Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo addressed some matters involving his now-public family issues.

Following his historic double gold medal victory at the Olympic Games Paris 2024, 24-year-old Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo has now turned his attention into addressing controversies involving family issues related to his mother, Angelica Yulo, and his girlfriend, Chloe San Jose.

Alongside his girlfriend Chloe from Paris, Yulo expressed his hope for the recovery of his relationship with his mother. He mentioned that he had forgiven her a long time ago and emphasized that his family should be celebrating his recent Olympic achievements.

“Napatawad ko na kayo a long time ago, po. At nasa maayos kayong kalagayan dyan lahat. Tigilan na po natin ito at i-celebrate na lang po natin yung mga ginawa po na paghihirap, pagsasakripisyo ng bawa't atletang Pilipino dito sa Olympics,” Yulo said in a long video posted on his Tiktok account.

Carlos Yulo's mother and his girlfriend were reportedly not on good terms. The tension between them has been a subject of public interest, especially following Yulo's recent Olympic successes.

The decorated Filipino gymnast thus acknowledged that Chloe was among the main reasons for his rift with his mother. Still, Yulo was quick to defend his partner, who has been supportive of his gymnastics journey since they formed a relationship.

San Jose also mentioned that her family created a group chat to discuss Mrs. Yulo's concerns about her, and disclosed that she chose to leave the conversation.

“And the last resort, my family made a group chat na kasama everybody involved because my family wanted to address kung ano yung issues ni mama towards me,” Chloe mentioned.

“And even though my family knew na marami na siyang pinapost, my family still welcomed them, treated them with respect, and with no judgment na pinaringgan nila yung side ng mom mo, what she had to say about me and our relationship. And then, after the group chat, she left; your mom left,” she added.

In the video, Yulo also highlighted an unresolved issue regarding a promised incentive from one of his tournaments that he never received.

He questioned the whereabouts of the funds, which he believed should have been a six-figure sum rather than the P70,000 Mrs. Yulo previously mentioned.

Caloy admitted that he was deeply hurt by the harsh words his mother directed at him. However, he now seeks to move forward and hopes for healing within his family.
