Twenty-year-old Vanessa Sarno still has a bright future ahead despite her early exit in the Olympic Games Paris 2024 women's weightlifting 71kg category on Saturday, Aug. 10 (Philippine time).
Weightlifter Vannesa Sarno suffered an early exit to her Paris 2024 debut after failing to lift all of her three attempts in snatch in the women's weightlifting 71kg class at the South Paris Arena on Saturday, August 10 (Philippine time).
Sarno shared a similar fate with fellow weightlifter John Ceniza as she could not raise 100kg in three tries to immediately bow out of medal contention.
Hopes were high for the 20-year-old Bohol native as she currently shares the fifth world ranking with Ecuador's Angie Palacios Dajomes.
But instead, she exited early, and the Philippines ended up without a medal in weightlifting for the first time since 2016.
Hidilyn Diaz delivered the country’s two medals in the sport after her silver medal finish in Rio 2016 and her historic gold in Tokyo 2020.
