The Philippine Centennial Team are back home after a successful stint in the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
After a grueling but successful campaign in the Olympic Games Paris 2024, the Philippine Centennial Team finally returned home on Tuesday, August 13.
At a little over 7:00 p.m., the Philippine contingent headlined by medalists Carlos Yulo, Nesthy Petecio, and Aira Villegas landed at Villamor Airbase, where they were welcomed by supporters as well as fellow Paris 2024 Olympians such as Joanie Delgaco, who was among the first to return home from the Olympics.
From Villamor Airbase, the Centennial Team will head to Malacañang to be welcomed by the First Family.
President Bongbong Marcos is then set to honor the Paris 2024 Olympians, as well as present them with well-deserved recognition and incentives.
A parade featuring the Centennial Team is likewise scheduled for Wednesday, August 14.
The 7.7-kilometer route will start at Aliw Theater and will end at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.
The Philippine Centennial Team that saw action in Paris 2024 is composed of double gold medalist Carlos Yulo, and bronze medalists Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas.
Also part of the team are EJ Obiena, Bianca Pagdanganan, John Cabang Tolentino, Lauren Hoffman, Carlo Paalam, Eumir Marcial, Hergie Bacyadan, Sam Catantan, Dottie Ardina, Aleah Finnegan, Emma Malabuyo, Levi Jung-Ruivivar,
Kiyomi Watanabe, Joanie Delgaco, Jarod Hatch, Kayla Sanchez, John Ceniza, Elreen Ando, and Vanessa Sarno.
(UPDATED - 9:29 p.m.) - All Paris 2024 Olympians will receive P1 million in incentive, through the Office of the President.
Meanwhile, Carlos Yulo received P20 million for his double-gold medal victories, while bronze medalists Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas got P2 million each. The coaching staff for the Philippine team were likewise rewarded with P500,000 as incentive for their Olympic effort.
